中文摘要:索因卡以其杰出的戏剧创作蜚声世界文坛,而他的一系列优秀戏剧作品则明显反映了他的文化价值观念。《沼泽地居民》、《狮子和宝石》、《森林之舞》、《强种》和《死亡和国王的马车夫》是索因卡在不同时期创作的五部戏剧作品,从这五部戏剧作品中的"外乡人"这一原型人物入手,对索因卡的文化观进行梳理,阐明他对待西方主流文化态度变化的轨迹。纵观索因卡的戏剧创作,他从最初对待西方主流文化的亲近逐渐走向背离;从最初对约鲁巴文化的怀疑,逐渐走向肯定和赞扬。简而言之,索因卡从最初的亲欧倾向或者说亲欧洲文化倾向最终走向约鲁巴主义或者说非洲中心主义,他把希望寄托于充满神灵和仪式,以及巫术的非洲神话世界。

外文摘要:Wole Soyinka is renowned for his outstanding dramas in the whole world, and his series of dramas obvi- ously reflects his cultural values. The Swamp Dwellers, The Lion and the Jewel, A Dance of the Forests, The Strong Breed, Death and the King's Horseman were written in different periods. This paper analyzes his cultural values and demonstrates the changing of his attitude toward mainstream western culture through analyzing the ar- chetype of "outsider" in these five dramas. Taking all Soyinka's dramas into consideration, we can find that he was intimate to the mainstream western culture at the beginning, but he changed his attitude gradually. His doubt toward Yoruba culture faded and his praise increased. In short, Soyinka finally moves his intimate attitude toward mainstream western culture to Yoruba, or Afro-centrism and he pins his hopes on the mythical African world filled with spirits, rituals and witchcraft.
