中文摘要：《汉书·艺文志》对中国小说发生期现象作出了理论总结。这一总结在确定小说起于口语传述的基础上,提出了有关小说标准与小说家的一系列看法。民间性、叙事性和一定的虚构性是小说标准的基本内容;“道听途说者”、“闾里小知者”和“稗官”是分属三个层次的小说家。《汉志》小说理论影响深远,成为中国小说理论的基础和核心。

外文摘要：Record of Art and Culture, History of Han Dynasty makes a theoretical summary of the phenomenological periodization of Chinese novels. Based on the affirmation that the Chinese novel originated from the oral tradition, it puts forward a series of new views on the standards of novel and the people who created them. The folklore, story-telling and fictionalization are the general standards for average content, and the gossipers, neighbors with little knowledge and minor officials are the people who wrote novels at three different levels. The book has exerted great influences on the formation of the infrastructure and kennel content of the Chinese novel theories.
