外文摘要：Cai Yuanpei was a higher educationist who had a thorough knowledge of both Western and traditional Chinese culture,he was not only good at taking the essence of university education of ancient China,but also willing to learn strengths of university education of Europe and America.He dissolved them into a unity for his use,and formed a unique thought of university functions.Today,the exploration on Cai's thought may help us greatly in comprehensive and correct understanding of his thought of university functions.
