中文摘要：英国17世纪散文家、哲学家弗朗西斯·培根(Francis Bacon)可以说是"英国唯物主义和整个近代实验科学的真正始祖"。他对古人的研究方法提出质疑,提出了现代学术改革思想。在培根看来,学术改革需要获得国家政治的支持,这一思想尤其体现在他对学术机构"所罗门宫"的构想之上。培根认为,时间是检验真理的唯一标准。在推进学术发展、改造大自然的过程中,人类要支配自然,就必须服从自然,唯有如此,自然才能更好地为人类服务。

外文摘要：The 17th-century English essayist and philosopher Francis Bacon is said to be ＂the real father of English materialism and experimental science of modern times in general＂. He expresses his doubts about the ancients＇ research method and puts forward his own knowledge reform thoughts in The Advancement of Learning. He thinks learning reform needs the support of state politics,which is especially shown in his construction of academic institution ＂Solomon＇s House＂. According to Bacon,time is the only measure to judge truth,and in the advancement of learning and exploring of Nature,Nature can only be conquered by human being＇s obedience to it. Only in this way,will Nature serve the people better.
