中文摘要：英汉两种语言都有丰富的习语。但是 ,由于地理环境、历史背景、风俗习惯、宗教信仰、思维模式和价值观念等方面的差异 ,英汉两个民族在习语喻体选择方面体现出各自鲜明的民族文化特色。广泛、系统地了解英汉两个民族的文化 ,可以帮助学习者更好地了解英汉习语比喻喻体选择的因素 ,增强学习者的文化敏感性 ,准确理解英语习语 。

外文摘要：This paper discusses different patterns in the choice of metaphor vehicles in both English and Chinese idioms. It points out that cultural differences are the main factors that affect the choices. As a result, special attention should be paid to those seemingly similar idioms so as to avoid misunderstandings.
