中文摘要：中国古代民本思想,以其重民意、保民生、得民心的倾向,与封建专制的政治体制相制衡,是中国传统政治理论与实践的精华。作为一种很强的政治理念和现实力量,在中国社会政治生活中曾产生过重大和广泛的影响。如今,民本思想经过理论与实践的双重批判,依然在中国社会的政治生活中起着极其重要的作用。传统民本思想为当代中国的民主政治建设提供了文化土壤,为"以人为本"科学发展观提供了文化基因,也为我党总结概括执政理论提供了宝贵的思想资源。认真汲取古代民本思想所内蕴的政治经验和智慧,挖掘它的当代价值,这对于当代中国社会的发展无疑具有重要的理论与实践意义。

外文摘要：Formed in the feudal society, ancient China＇ s people-oriented thought checked and balanced the feudal and autocratic political system by emphasizing public opinions, improving people＇ s livelihood, and gaining popular support, and constituted the essence of traditional political theory and practice in China. As a powerful political thinking and real strength, people-oriented thought once made great and wide influences upon the political life in Chinese society. Currently, this thought, after a double critique from theory and practice, is still actively playing a pivotal role in the political life of Chinese society. The traditional people- oriented thought has laid down a cultural foundation for the construction of democratic politics in contemporary China, and provided both cultural genes for the people-oriented scientific concept of development, and precious intellectual resources for the Chinese Communist Party to summarize and generalize her governance theory. Therefore, it is a must to carefully assimilate the political experience and wisdom contained in the ancient people-oriented thought, and to explore its contemporary values. This is undoubtedly of important significance in theory and practice for the social development in contemporary China.
