中文摘要：中国古代自两汉设立察举、征辟等选举制度以后,便形成了由中央政权和地方官吏、大族共同掌握选举用人的制度。进入魏晋南北朝,汉代的选举制仍然延续,但由于特殊的政治环境和社会状况,出现了地方大族把持选举用人的局面。九品中正制正是这种现象的反映。同时,由于九品中正制在很大程度上起到了巩固“门阀制度”的作用,从而促进了这一时期官僚“贵族化”的倾向。

外文摘要：The present paper surveys the election system of ancient China from the Han Dynasty through the Wei and Jin Dynasties, pointing out that a major feature of this system is the manipulation of the election by local powers which in turn leads to the clan favoritism and aristocracy of local government institutions.
