中文摘要:通过分子动力学模拟,研究了纯净碳纳米管在轴向拉伸下的应力—应变关系,发现有限温度下纯净碳纳米管拉伸强度随管长呈现尺寸效应,且碳管力学强度统计分布符合Weibull统计理论预言的偏态分布。分析表明该尺寸效应来源于碳原子的随机热运动,而不是通常的材料内部静态缺陷。发现的尺寸效应新机制—动力学无序,对研究纳米材料的强度以及宏观结构在振动外力策动下的稳定性都具有参考意义。
外文摘要:By using molecular dynamics simulation, the stress-strain relationship of pristine carbon nanotubes under aaxial tension is studied. A size effect in thetensile strength ofthe pristine carbon nanotubes at finite temperature is found and the statistical distribution of the mechanical strength of carbon tube follows the skewed distribution as the Weibull statisticaltheory predicts.Detailed Analysis found that it is the random thermal motion of carbon atoms,rather than the conventionalmaterial internal static defects, causes thesize effect.This new dynamical-disorder mechanism of size effect may be of great importance to thestudies of the strength theory of nano-materials and the stability theory of macrostructures driven by vibrationforces.
