外文摘要:Water-soluble (WS) ZnS and ZnS:Mn quantum dots (QDs) coated with thioglycolic acid were synthesized via a hydrothermal synthesis method. The two kinds of ZnS based QDs are very homogeneous with a small size of 4 nm. The as grown WS ZnS QDs emit strong blue fluorescence light while the WS ZnS:Mn QDs present strong yellow fluorescence light under a fluorescence microscope. The corresponding photoluminescence (PL) is located at 420 nm for ZnS QDs and 580 nm for ZnS:Mn QDs in the PL spectrum. With strong yellow light emission and free of toxicity to life and the environment, water-soluble ZnS:Mn QDs can be used as biological fluorescence probe to be able to replace CdSe, CdS materials.
