中文摘要：《火星纪事》是一部由20余篇短篇小说组合而成的长篇科幻小说,在内容和形式上均有不俗表现。该小说的新奇感在很大程度上源自于编年史叙事体例。首先,借助编年史叙事所特有的时间和情节相分离的特点,《火星纪事》将叙事线条从直线扭转为圆周,形成叙事循环,破解了小说叙事的开头与结尾之惑;其次,该小说的编年史叙事体例是对宏大历史叙事的戏仿,揭露了历史的虚构性,同时又通过指涉历史事件突出文学作品再现历史真实的功能;最后,该小说借助编年史叙事体例不仅将人类生活表现为一连串偶然事件,而且还将人类情感视为偶然性的根本原因,从而取得变化与永恒的统一。

外文摘要：The Martian Chronicles, a science fiction composed of over 20 short stories, appears quite original in both content and form. Its originality, to a large degree, is a result of the chronological narrative style. First of all, due to the separation of time and plot unique to chronological narrative style, this novel turns the straight narrative line into a round one and produces a narrative circle, which helps solve the “beginning and end puzzle” in novels;secondly, this kind of narrative style, a parody of the grand historical narrative, aims to expose the fictional properties of history, and meanwhile plays a role of representing historical truths by referring to the historic events;moreover, the novel displays human life as a set of chances, and attributes the chanciness to the human eternal emotions, thus achieving a unity between chance and eternity.
