中文摘要：计算机适应性测试 (CALT)已在欧美各国得到广泛推广和应用。与传统的笔试方法相比 ,CALT能用较少的测试项目和较短的时间更可靠、更精确地估算出考生的语言能力。本文介绍了CALT的理论基础和主要特点 ,并对其尚存的问题和对我国大规模语言测试的指导意义进行了探讨。

外文摘要：Computer-adaptive language testing (CALT) has been extensively used both in America and Europe. Compared with the conventional paper-and-pencil testing, CALT takes fewer items and less time to estimate an examinee's true ability level. This article mainly explores in four areas of CALT: (a) the characteristics of CALT, (b) the theories underlying the CALT, (c) the problems in CALT, and (d) the implications of CALT to the largescale language testing in our country.
